Formal adaptive reuse:
Remodel & Restoration & Change of use

OVERVIEW

The design is a complex interior restoration and adaptive reuse of the historical Palazzo delle Poste for three new destinations: residences for rent; Credit Swiss Bank branch; and high-end retail.

The project leads to the complete restoration of the existing fabric (respecting the significance of both the whole complex and the single elements). Most importantly, it balances maintaining the existing structure while creating new and reversible partitions to allow for the new layouts to be optimal and fully satisfy the different clients’ requirements.

The building is listed in the Historic Landmarks Register, therefore any intervention has to be overviewed from the Historic Landmarks Commission (in Italy, “Regional Board of the Ministry of Cultural Heritage and Environmental Conservation”). Among other steps, an extensive comparative study of its original peculiarities has been completed, in order to define both the general guidelines and the details of the project.
